Let’s keep this simple.
It’s Banned Books Week.
You should read a banned or challenged book.
In fact, I challenge you to read a challenged book. I plan to. Here’s what I’ve chosen:
I’ve wanted to read Slaughterhouse-Five since someone in my AP English class chose it for their independent reading assignment (I chose A Catcher in the Rye). I’ve been wanting to read Vonnegut ever since my brother’s 10th grade English class learned that their student teacher was Vonnegut’s grandson. And also since I realized that he’s kinda big on this dystopian world business that I love so much.
So, Kurt, I shall ask you to bring it with this novel as I celebrate the fact that there are people in this country/world who want to fight the censorship of your genius.
Now that I’ve challenged you, what are you planning to read this week in celebration of banned and challenged literature?
