Novel Ideas [24]: Some People Never Learn

Novel Ideas

It’s another crazy week this week. I’m overloaded with a group lit review due next Tuesday, approximately ten chapters I need to read, some articles to read, a movie to watch for my critical theory class, and a few short papers I need to write. Plus Valentine’s Day goodness and a baptism to attend out of of town this weekend. Whew! It’s times like this I need a good laugh.

So that’s why I found this little bit of cartoon-y goodness from Matt Groening. I found it at one of my favorite blog, Sociological Images, and they credit Historiann as their source. Apparently the original source is this book. Wow. How’s that for giving credit? I hope I covered all the bases. Anyways, enjoy this little graphic. And remember that both you AND I should probably be following rule #5 right now…but where’s the fun in that?

I think the sad thing is that while this is supposed to be funny, it’s also based in truth! Especially the “Should you go to grad school?” checklist. Seriously. Using jargon and citing authorities is totally my idea of a good time.

What kinds of stress-tastic activities are on your plate this week? What’s getting you through?

  2. So funny and true at the same time! I would LOVE to get my Ph.D. someday, but after I finished my Master’s I was absolutely burned out. Kudos to you!
