Top Ten Books I Resolve to Read in 2013

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the bloggers over at the Broke and the Bookish. Book bloggers from all around create lists based on the chosen topics, and post links to the host blog to share our love of books. This week we are making some reading resolutions! There are plenty of books I’m looking forward to in 2013, but I also have stacks of books I’ve been wanting to read for EONS. 2013 is the year to finally get these out of the TBR stack and into my brain.
Top Ten Books I Resolve to Read in 2013
[a TBR takedown]
I’ll start with three classics. Yes. Three. I’m keeping it simple and do-able. I got all three of these from Splinter this fall (I told them I wanted to read more classics!), and I love these beautiful covers!

1.) Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
2.) Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
3.) Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
Followed by three books sitting on my Nook that I’ve bought but never read. I think I bought them all because I make sure to snag books from my mental TBR list when I find them for under $3.99, even if I’m not ready to read them yet. I know they are all good books — I KNOW this. I’ve just been distracted by too many other shiny new things.

4.) The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
5.) Feed by MT Anderson
6.) City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Then three books I own in hardcover that have been sitting on my nightstand. I bought them through Scholastic to bump my school’s book fair up $30 to reach our spending goal (and the next level of rewards!).

7.) Cinder by Marissa Meyer
8.) Legend by Marie Lu
9.) Stolen by Lucy Christopher
And finally, one book that I need to read just because:

10.) The 2013 Printz winner
Though I’d love to have read it before it gets picked, that’s not likely to be the case.
It’s my goal to read all of the winners, so I need to keep up with them as they’re picked!

Great list I hope to get my hands in Cinder this year too.
I’d like to read Great Expectations too! Also, having seen Les Miserables I absolutely have to read it. I also have some Margaret Atwood on my shelves, waiting to be enjoyed! A good start?
Great list! I am a new book-blogger-reviewer on here and will do this tag tomorrow – looks great! Could anyone advise me to any good bookworms I here that I could follow and converse with! Thanks in advance! Matthew
Yup, ME! I’m a bookworm, and would love to converse all things literati
any of the blogs on my sidebar are great! The ladies at the Selective Collective (click The Book Addict Guide’s link — she’s a member) are excellent for bookish conversations.
Love those classic covers! I know what you mean about those book bargains – I have so many of them too they could be their own list. Stolen is one I’d like to check out sometime too. Good luck with all your reading goals and happy new year!
I love those classic covers. So pretty. I still need to read Legend as well, but loved Stolen and Cinder. And I’ve owned Feed for awhile and have yet to read that as well. Great list!
Cinder is on my list, too. I just ordered a copy, too! (: Sense and Sensibility is so good and I love that cover! City of Bones is a great, read too.
Happy New Year!

Read 2 of your 3 classics! Although admittedly, I’ve not heard of any of the others on your list! I’ll be checking back to see how they go!
Good list.
I’m partial to Wuthering Heights and Legend, so I think you’ll enjoy those two. My TBR list includes Les Miserables, War and Peace, Delirium, and Bitterblue.
I was hoping to receive a copy of Jim C. Hines’s “Libriomancer,” which is an adult book that could cross over to strong youth readers. Full of references for adults to grin at and kids to look up. I borrowed it from the library, but wanted my own copy. Didn’t get it, still looking to buy it in a local shop. My other plan is to re-read The Hobbit and most likely pass on the movie.
Those new covers for the three classics you’ve chosen are really nice! I’ve read Wuthering Heights and quite enjoyed it (it was in college, so having to study it made it slightly less enjoyable, but I’d like to read it again sometime free of exam questions!). Stolen sounds great, I’d love to read it at some point!
Great books to read! Wuthering Heights is currently one of my favorite classics (though I had to read it twice to fully grasp the awesomeness). I’m trying to work my way through my own bookshelf this year. You’ve inspired me to write my own list to read this year!
Cinder was fantastic! Read that one first if you can!
I need to read Stolen & start City of Bones soon!
I read City of Bones over Christmas vacation, and was pleasantly surprised. The relationships were a lot more complex than I anticipated, and–as with many YA novels–the past was wicked fast, so I couldn’t stop reading.
Excited to hear what you think of it!
I want to read Feed too. I’d like to read more science fiction, fantasy, and magic realism books.
Great list! I capture the castle by dodie smith is another great one to add to the classics list to if you haven’t read it. Same author as 101 Dalmatians, but it’s not a children’s book. Withering heights is in my list this yr.
Definitely read “Feed”. I cannot stress this enough. It’s a wonderful book. I love it.
